City Riots, "Here For The Weekend
(2006)
Do you think there's a chance that she saw the smile on your face?
Do you think there's a chance she found out about you and I?
Oh no
Do you think she will know if I don't get back home in time?
Do you think there's a chance she found out about you and I?
Oh no
Say that you're only here for the weekend
Say that you're only here for the weekend
Alyssa's interpretation: "It's mainly because of the 'she'. I realise he's probably singing about his own girlfriend, but I like to think of the 'she' as the other person's girlfriend. As in, the other person is a girl, and has a girlfriend, or the other person is a guy, and has a girlfriend. But that's just my weird thing of seeing the gay everywhere, probably."
This was the first thing I thought of when she showed me the lyrics, though--I think it's the "your face" in the first line, which suggests that the "she" in the song belongs to whoever the narrator is addressing. And okay, if you DON'T see the gay everywhere, what are you doing on a site like Queerics?
